Delana Webb Bean initiated a road angel station through their church on 412 East to provide, "a place for them to rest, grab a snack and hydrate." She actively followed 75 year old racing legend Terrie Wurzbacher. Terrie is known on the Vol State trail for writing a book, and producing her podcast on all things VolState Road Race. "This is not necessarily about race tactics, but is more about the people. I want to share their stories, ups and downs, and their excitement, the animals (real or imagined) and just about anything else they want to share. When people ask me why I continue to do this event, I tell them it's because of the people I've met and whom I now consider family. It's a 10 day family reunion, but you can move on when one cousin or uncle gets on your nerves."

Journal Entry from racer PK Jebbia: "Leaving Linden last night, brief stop to conduct some shoe relief. The Highway was dark and lonely last night, the hallucinations were real, the foot and leg pain were substantial....but the humanity of the Road Angels was beyond a blessing. It is so refreshing to see, especially with my occupation related to locking up the worlds worst offenders, that good people do in fact still exist. We are our Brother's keeper, and this difficult journey has started to renew my faith in humanity. As we now trudge our way into a new town this morning, the pain subsides a bit and the sun gives a chance to reflect and give a moment of gratitude that we survived yet another day on our internal and external battle to the rock. To those who are now kissing the rock, to those dancing with Oprah, we are being reborn together, one day, one struggle, and one step at a time. So grateful for a new day, and a new personal PR for total mileage. Regardless of how today ends, I have choices and chances that others do not....And I will no longer take that for granted. The phrase "Run with happiness" was recently shared with me by a dear friend and accomplished runner from the Navajo nation, and today I understand what he means. Mile 142 is now complete, it's time to fix my feet, hydrate and plan the day's run. Blessings to you all and remember, Run with happiness. Yours in Suffering, PK Jebbia 6:44 am Somewhere on State Route 412 near Hohenwald, TN"
