Q.) Can you tell me a little bit about yourself?
A.) I was born in Lewis County Tennessee in 1948 to Thomas (Blue) and Betty B. Carroll. I have two sisters, Angie Gray of Summertown, Tennessee, Barbara Strickland and one brother Randy Carroll of Columbia, Tennessee. Also, have two children, Barry Allison Carroll and Amanda Alexandra of Murfeesboro, with several grandchildren and great grandchildren. Attended school here in Hohenwald both Elementary and High School. After graduation, I was drafted in the Army in August of 1968. Was discharged with honorable discharge in 1971 and have been married for 53 years.
Q.) Where did you grow up?
A.) Lewis County except for three years while serving in the Army.
Q.) What is one of your fondest childhood memories?
A.) Going to Center Star, Alabama in the summer to visit my grandmother and Aunt and Uncle.
Q.) What did you want to be as a kid? What did you actually become?
A.) Don't remember what I really wanted to be as a kid. I was employed with USPS for 32 years. Then I worked for South Central Public Transportation for 11 years. Drove for Buffalo Valley, Inc for 2 years, then retired for good in 2019.
Q.) If you could go anywhere, in or out of the states, where would it be? Why?
A.) I would like to visit Sweden, Ireland, Denmark. Looks like a great place to visit but not live.
Q.) What is one of your favorite things about living in Hohenwald?
A.) Hohenwald has always been home to me and a great place to grow up. Especially after all the places that we have visited in our many travels of the 48 states and parts of Canada and British Columbia and Nova Scotia. There's no place like home. Most of all the people in Lewis County have been kind and supportive.
Q.) What is your favorite time of year? Why?
A.) Early spring or late fall are great times to ride our Trike.
Q.) What do you enjoy most about your job?
A.) I'm retired, so my job is great!
Q.) What are some of your favorite hobbies/how do you like to spend your free time?
A.) In my younger years I would play music with the Scalawags. Then later in life played music with Ed Quillen in country music. Then with Sonny and Sheila Holley, fifties and sixties music and some country.
Q.) If you could invite any famous person over for dinner, who would it be? Why?
A.) That would be John Wayne or Clint Eastwood, I just think either of them would be interesting to talk with.
Q.) Is there any life advice you could give to our readers?
A.)Enjoy life, travel the U.S. and see all the wonders in our country. Put God early in your life and keep Him there the rest of your life.
