Serving Hohenwald, Lewis County Tennessee Since 1898
May 14, 1952 - July 9, 2024
Melvin Darriel Patterson, 72, of Hohenwald, passed away on July 9, 2024. He was born on May 14, 1952, in Hohenwald, to the late Melvin Lewis Patterson and Mary Edith Reed Patterson.
For many years, Melvin was employed at Murray Ohio, where he was known for his skill in machine tool repair. A man of few words, Melvin's actions spoke louder than any speech. His dedication to his family was evident in the sacrifices he made, such as working the midnight shift to ensure he could be present at his children's sporting events.
Melvin's passion for the Tennessee Volunteers was unmatched. He accomplished his dream by attending his first Vols game with his son in 2023. His love for the outdoors was unmistakable in his enjoyment of hunting and fishing. Melvin also found joy in the camaraderie of playing the card game "Tunk" at the local pool room for quarters. He enjoyed the times spent watching Westerns and cherished playing with his grandchildren.
He leaves behind his beloved wife, Louise Patterson, and their children: Melvin "Bubba" Patterson (Angie), Rachel Eddington (Dee), and Carrie Lampley (Donnie). His siblings, Ronnie Melton (Peggy), Shirley Garland, and Helen San Miguel (Andy), also survive him. Melvin was a dedicated grandfather to eight grandchildren: Lainden, Shelby, Alex, Cooper, Luke, Brice, Daly, and Delaney, and an admired uncle to his nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Melvin Lewis Patterson and Mary Edith Reed Patterson, his brother Harold Melton, and his sisters Daisy Martin, Wilma Melton, Pat Elliott, and CheChe McCaleb.
Visitation with the family was held Thursday, July 11 at McDonald Funeral Home. Funeral Services were held on Friday, July 12. Burial followed in the Napier Cemetery.
