One Day at a Time

Series: One day at a time | Story 151

Well it is a quiet and peaceful morning here in our little valley. It is cloudy and cool but not humid, it is very comfortable. We have had a little shower of rain and there is a breeze blowing.

The cats have ate their breakfast and now are relaxing, they are really enjoying this cooler weather. They do not like the hot weather during the Summer and during the wintertime you can tell that they are just dealing with the snow and cold, but come Spring or Fall then that is their kind of weather.

The birds in the yard are busy at their feeders. Believe it or not, there are some crows up in the old apple tree eating the remainder of the apples, you would not think a crow would eat an apple but this year they have been.

This year sure is going by in a hurry. In a couple of weeks all the kids will be going back to school, it just does not seem like they have been out very long. When we were growing up I think we had more time out for Summer and we went back in the Fall. Now it is still Summer when kids go back.

We have had a good week. I have been cleaning out and organizing some closets and some cabinets. Things sure do get cluttered in a hurry, but I sure have enjoyed getting it all straighten up.

It has also been a quiet week for us, but there has been a lot of bad things going on out in our world, you never know from one day to the next what will happen.

With the attack on President Thump and all the computer problems causing trouble around the world and the unusual weather, you never know what will happen and what you can depend on, nothing seems normal anymore.

I know we need to pray more, and pray for one another. We need to pray more for the leaders of our country and our world. We need to pray for the local people that take care if us, a lot of them put their lives on the line each day to protect us and defend our rights.

I guess most of the gardens are almost gone now. I think some of the gardens did pretty good even with the heat and dryness. Some people had more then one garden and some had really big gardens, maybe they did better. We have been hearing that there may be shortages on some things because of the crazy weather.

There is no telling what kind of Winter we will have. Some say we will have a mild Winter and others say a hard Winter. No one knows what the weather will do next, but God knows all and I believe He will take care of us if we all do our part.

Today should be a busy day, there is laundry to do and porches to sweep. Our neighbor brought us a big mess of squash and ripe tomatoes, and we are having them with our dinner today.

I am still on the front porch and I can hear thunder off in the distance and I can see a few sprinkles of rain, maybe we will get another shower. Bob is finished with the breakfast dishes and is coming out here on the porch to enjoy his coffee.

I am not going to worry about tomorrow and I am going to take one day at a time because God still has it all under control and He is the light at the end of the tunnel.

God bless,

Evelyn “E.T.” Trevathan
