Marijuana, Psychedelics Confiscated:Hohenwald Police Department, L.C. Sheriff's Department work together to prevent potential drug sales in Lewis County

On June 28, 2024 at approximately 10:32 PM. Hohenwald City Police Officer Natasha Courter observed a gray Mazda Tribute with unlit registration tags driven by Raymond Kelley of Kentucky.

Officer Courter proceeded to make a routine traffic stop on the vehicle at South Walnut Street at Oakdale Avenue.

Kelley was noticed to be acting suspicious and hands were shaking while providing Officer Courter with information.

City of Hohenwald Officer Kalum Halfacre and Lewis County Deputy Dylan Pullman arrived on the scene. Kelley began to visibly shake and sweat, He denied having anything illegal in the vehicle and refused a search.

K9 partner, Celo, conducted an open- air sniff and indicated positively.

While searching the vehicle, two containers with locks on them were found and the smell of marijuana was noted coming from one of the boxes.

Lewis County Deputy Bucky Isbell was called to bring bolt cutters to cut the lock off.

The contents found inside the first box were 192.7 grams of psilocybin mushrooms. Additional large and small containers of marijuana were found: one weighed approximately 692 grams, and others contained various amounts ranging from 427.3 grams to 184.2 grams.

Three glass jars of flavored marijuana were also found, with amounts ranging from 243.8 grams to 244.4 grams.

Various cannabis vape cartridges and cannabis edibles were discovered as well.

In the second box were two bags of psilocybin mushrooms, along with other containers of marijuana and additional drug paraphernalia including LSD paper, marijuana wax, and scales with residue.

Mr. Kelley was transported to Lewis County Jail and charged with possession of Schedule 1 and Schedule 6 drugs with intent to distribute, and drug paraphernalia.
