Series: Gordonsburg | Story 197

The temperatures have been in the low sixties in the early morning for the last few days and that is good for me anyway. We still are really short on rain and yards, gardens, and pastures are really suffering. Any farmer can tell you that when it gets this dry the cattle start looking for greener grass and it is hard to keep them in the fences.

Those I know which are sick either at home, in nursing facilities or in the hospitals are: Kasey Baker, Colene Beasley, Linda Butler, Elizabeth Boggs, Gertie Carroll, Pam Carroll is doing well after hip surgery, Spencer Clark, Nita Cottrel, Robert and Pat Dickson, Polly Edwards is home and doing good, Ophelia Green, Betty Hasty, Melissa Hendeson, Wanda Holloway, Wayne Holloway, Thelma Johns, Jimmy Lee Johnston, Denny King, Monette King, Jim Lawson, Lillie Mitchell, Greg McCann, Jason McCann, Brittany Mash, Doug Miller, Howard Miller, Jackie McFall, Will Morris, Kay Murphy, Joy Orman, Judy O’Guin, Roger Pace, Debbie Pierce, Harry Runions, Marsha Runions, Russell Runions, Lewis Schultz, Johnnie Faye Skelton, Addie Steel, Terry Stutts, Jeff Tatum, Diane Williams, and Annette Williams. Prayers for these and others we may not know of but especially pray for those with cancer.

We wish a happy birthday to Aleva Cheyene Morris the 18th, Cayden Christy and Kathlene Carroll the 20th, Renee Bates, Adam Clayton, and Amanda Odom the 21st, Todd Graham, Florine Johnston, and Whitney Kin the 22nd. Wishing for all these and anyone I missed a very happy birthday and many more to celebrate.

A s the Girl Scouts begin the new year if you have a daughter who would be interested in joining; just let me know and I will help you get her into a group her age level. You can also come to a meeting we are having August 27th, at 6 pm in the Community Building. We would love to have new members and also adults to help with the troops.

Prayers for all those families who lost loved ones this past week. These are the ones I know about

Wesley Lee Butler, Leo Doyle, Janice Ann Brewer, Thomas Harris Galleher, Danny Lynn Goodman, Derrick Lee Brown, Robert Harris Bowman, Daniel Calvin Hiscock, Mary Bell Sharp Davidson, Johnny Dwayne Garrett, Samuel Fleming Anderson, and Charles Edward Jackson Jr.,. Prayers for these families and any others about which I may not know.

Early mornings and evenings after school time the buses are traveling around the area so please be careful and observe the stop signs on the buses. Children sometimes forget to be safe, especially when they are in a hurry to get home or somewhere else so watch out for them.

The Lewis County Girl Scouts visited the Fairy Tales Animal Farm on Saturday and all the girls and adults that accompanied them really enjoyed the day.

Wishing you and yours a safe week and remember to stay hydrated. Remember those who are less fortunate and can’t be out and around the area and call, send cards or visit if you can, just think if you were shut-in how you might feel.
