One Day at a time

Well it is a very quiet and peaceful morning here in our little valley. It is really cool here on the front porch. We had a cool front come through and it almost feels like early Fall.

There is a cool breeze blowing and this morning I almost need a blanket, now this is nice.

Early in the morning like this it is quiet around here, there is not much traffic on the road. The neighbor’s cows are grazing peacefully and enjoying the dew covered grass.

The cats are having their breakfast a little late today. They did not get up as early this morning, they were snuggled in since it was cooler.

This morning I made a big pan of biscuits and with them Bob had some of my homemade blueberry jam, he said he hopes I have a lot more of it. I did make a few jars of jam but I also made some blueberry juice for us to drink this Winter.

Maybe this Winter there will not be a lot of flu and viruses like we have had before. I know there is already some things going around.

I had to take Bob out to Dr. Kamal, he had a little sinus drainage. I think he just wanted to see Dr. Kamal and of course I did not mind either. Everyone there is so good to us and they sure take such good care of us. Thank all of you and we love you all.

We were out running our errands and we saw a lot of soybeans growing in the fields but not much corn. I do not think most farmers are able to grow big amounts of crops like they use to, you know that is going to make it harder on all of us later. Each day there is more people but also less food being grown.

We depend on local farmers more than most people realize. I was in the grocery store and again there was several items that had gone up more than a few cents. I did find a few items on sale but you really have to look for them.

When I am in stores I try to take my time and I always check the prices. Now a days we all need to sometimes slow down a little bit and pay attention to things. So many people are rushing and miss things that they should have noticed.

I think someone thought these self-checkouts were a good idea and I guess some people like them, but not me. I am hearing more and more people complaining about them. What has happen to getting to see and talk to a friendly cashier, many a time I have went back and bought more just because a cashier told me about a special item on sale. Also you do know that the cashiers are the faces of most of these stores that we shop at.

I do not know what this world is coming to and what people are thinking. You can not hardly turn on the TV anymore without hearing only bad news. It is not just the world news but also the local news, it is so depressing to hear only bad news, it is like they do not want to report any good news. The election has not even really started yet and I think it is going to be rough no mater who gets it.

All I know for sure is that we all need to start noticing things and be prepared and we all need to pray a lot more. We all need to be doing these things like never before, because only God knows what is ahead of us.

Now that we have been having a few cooler days we have been trying to get some more outside work done and washing a few windows. There is so much that needs to be done and we are only about a month away from Fall. Soon the leafs will be changing color and falling off the trees, this year is going by so fast.

Bob has finished with the breakfast dishes and we are going to enjoy this morning for a few minutes more and then I am going to get busy. For dinner I am going to fry a big skillet of sweet potatoes and fix us some turnip greens, we are going to have a good meal and not eat any junk food.

I am not going to worry about tomorrow and I am going to take one day at a time because God still has it all under control and He is the light at the end of the tunnel.

God bless,

Evelyn "E.T." Trevathan
