Derrick Lee Brown

Derrick Lee Brown, a devoted and loving father, beloved son, and brother, passed away on August 10, 2024, in Centerville, TN, at the age of 27. Born on December 12, 1996, in Dickson, TN, Derrick was known for his loving nature, gentle spirit, and kind heart. He was a ray of joy and positivity to all who knew him.

Derrick grew up surrounded by a close-knit family who supported and loved him unconditionally. He was the pride and joy of his parents, Bobby and Amy Ortega Brown, and a source of inspiration to his son Henry, who was the center of his world. His sister Brandi Brown, along with his aunts and uncles, Tammy and Mike Ricketts, Kenneth and Donna Brown, Carolyn and Jim Williams, Mark and Linda Ortega, Terry Ortega, Roy Ortega, Phillip Ortega, and Barbara and Ricky Slaughter, will forever cherish the memories they created with Derrick. Derrick's work at The Ranch in transportation was more than just a job; it was a testament to his hardworking nature and his commitment to helping others. His colleagues respected him for his dedication and the kindness he extended to everyone he encountered.

An avid outdoorsman, Derrick found solace and adventure in hunting, fishing, and riding 4-wheelers, activities that he loved sharing with his son Henry. The bond between father and son was unbreakable, and their shared experiences in the outdoors were among Derrick's most treasured moments. His love for video games and anime offered him a creative escape and brought him joy, which he eagerly shared with friends and family.

To say that Derrick was loving would be an understatement; he was the definition of love itself. His gentle soul showed in his actions, and his kindness was felt by everyone he met. The infectious smile that he always wore could light up the darkest of rooms, and his caring nature made him a friend to many.

Derrick's legacy is one of love, kindness, and gentle strength. He was a man who understood the value of family, friendship, and the simple things of life. He will be remembered for the way he embraced life with open arms and for the positive impact he had on the lives of those around him.

He was preceded in death by his aunts Cecilia Ortega and Donna Brown, Cousin Lynda Key, and his grandparents Wiley and Imogene Brown and Joe and Mary Ortega whose memories he held close to his heart. Derrick's passing leaves a void in the hearts of those who loved him, but his spirit will continue to shine brightly in the memories they hold dear.
