Person of the week: Erica Curtis

ERICA CURTIS

Q.) Can you tell me a little bit about yourself?

A.) GOD knew that Chita Curtis and Terry Curtis needed a golden child so here I am (haha). Seriously, I was blessed to grow up here with them as parents. I have one amazing daughter, Jerika Long. I recently married the most wonderful man, Shane Herrell. GOD has and continues to bless me and I grateful.

Q.) Where did you grow up?

A.) Here in Hohenwald, TN

Q.) What is one of your fondest childhood memories?

A.) Grandma and Grandpa's Floyd House. Freedom Holy Temple's yearly BBQ's. Those were fun times.

Q.) What did you want to be as a kid? What did you actually become?

A.) Race car driver or comedian, I love to make people laugh. I am the Director of the Women's Hope Center.

Q.) Who was/is your biggest role model?

A.) Jerika, taught me unconditional love. She has the purest and kindest heart.

My mentor, Michelle Williams taught me about business, professionalism, finance, leadership.

Q.) What are some of your favorite hobbies/ how do you like to spend your free time?

A.) Cleaning and Organizing thanks to my mom. Spending time with my husband and Jerika.

Q.) If you could go anywhere, in or out of the states, where would it be? Why?

A.) NYC in the fall. My favorite movie scenes are filmed there.

Q.) What is "your" song?

A.) I just love music. If you've ever spent time with me you know I have a song for everything. I just love to sing. I could never pick one song.

Q.) What is one of your favorite things about living in Hohenwald?

A.) It's like the show Cheers "where everybody knows your name". The community shows up for each other.

Q.) What is your favorite time of year? Why?

A.) Fall, I love the weather and colors it brings.

Q.) What do you enjoy most about your job?

A.) Loving these ladies where they are at. Teaching them to have their own relationship with JESUS. Watching them grow and learn, being reunited with their families.

Q.) Do you have a nick name?

A.) Deb Powers call me Erica Cane. Pawpaw Tate called me Erica Jane. At the Hope Center Mama Erica.

Q.) If you could spend one day as a TV character, who would it be?

A.) Angela Landsberry on Murder She Wrote. She's a genius!

Q.) Is there any life advice you could give to our readers?

A.) Have your own personal relationship with JESUS. Don't just know of HIM. That is the most important relationship you will ever have. Seek HIM first and HIS righteousness; everything else will follow.
