"We need this form" school nurses' plea to parents

"Only about 50% of the high school has turned this very important form," stated School Board member Glenda Atkinson. A new law is requiring this form to be in a student's file before a school nurse is able to treat them. "Imagine being at field day, "said a school official, "and your child accidentally slips and falls down the bleachers. Nothing is broken, but they are scraped up and need attention and a bandaid. However, they never returned the consent form. Our hands are legally tied on what we can do to help your child, so you don't have to leave work to care for them."
