Serving Hohenwald, Lewis County Tennessee Since 1898
Some golfers practice their entire lives to hit a hole-in-one, some never making it. Lewis County High School Golf Player, River Carroll, did. On Sunday, August 25th, he went out on the green with friends and teammates, like any other day, to practice. He swung his club on hole one of The Course at High Forest, and the ball traveled 134 yards, landing precisely inside the hole for his first ever hole-in-one, witnessed by Caleb Moore.
“I received a call from River screaming,” said River’s mom Tonia. “It about scared me out of my shoes, and I just about hit my knees. I thought dear Lord please, and then I heard, “Mom, I just hit a hole-in-one”. I was relieved and excited, all at the same time.”
The next day, Monday, August 26th, again, he traveled onto the green like any other day. And, again, hit the ball 134 yards, straight into the hole for another hole-in-one! Monday’s was witnessed by the Manager of The Course at High Forest, “I can’t believe I got to witness this,” she said.
As River, was enjoying his free meal at The Sandtrap Bar & Grill, provided to anyone who conquers such a feat, I asked him what it took for a young person trying to follow in his footsteps and make their first hole-in-one. “It just takes time,” River responded. “If we gave up every time something got hard, where would we be? It sure wouldn’t be sitting here, eating this fantastic meal I earned for free. Just don’t stop, and we usually end up where we want to be.”
