The Lewis County High School Football Panthers came home on the short end after a 17-6 loss at Creekwood Friday, August 30.
Defense ruled the first quarter as neither team was able to score.
The visiting Panthers were first on the scoreboard as Drew Ray crossed into the endzone on a 5 yard carry at 9:32 in the second to give Lewis County a 6-0 lead.
Creekwood would answer at the 3:52 mark on a 20 run. The point after kick gave the home team a 7-6 advantage.
The Red Hawks scored again with a 17 yard blocked punt return for score in the third quarter at the 7:03 mark, adding the extra point for a 14 - 6 lead.
The home team scored once more with a 20 yard field goal at 4:54 in the fourth.
Creekwood gained 269 total yards in the contest, 170 rushing and 99 passing.
Lewis County totalled 125 total yards with only 74 rush yards on 33 carries and 51 pass yards on 4 receptions.
Micah Godfrey ran 45 yards on 15 carries, Braylon Bean had 30 on 6 carries, Drew Ray was 8 yards on 2 carries, Brycen McDonald gaind 5 on 2 tries, Reggie Wade was 1 yard on 3 rushes, and Dakota Hull had -1 on one try.
Pass totals saw Hull gain 34 yards on 2 catches, Bentley had 10 yards on 1 reception, and Kobe Feichtinger caught one for 7 yards.
Bean also ran back 4 kick-offs for 122 yard total.Kelsey retutned one punt for 21 yards.
Defensive totals: Drew Ray and Nathanial Caamal led with 7 tackles each, Kade Carroll, Bean, and Samuel Moore each had 5, Nate Jones and Hull 4 each, Feichtinger 3, Kelsey 2, Corbyn Harris, Colby Cates, Noah Alkire, and Jaylen Edwards one each. Feichtinger hauled in one interception.
Lewis County will travel to East Hickman this Friday, September 6, for a 7 p.m. Region contest.
