Hunter Education Class To Be Held

A TWRA sponsored Hunter Education class will be held 17, 19 and 20 September 2024 at the Lewis County High School. Classes will be held from 5:00 – 8:00 p.m. each day. Written test and Firearms Handling Exercises will be held on Friday afternoon. Students must attend all classroom sessions, written test and firearms handling exercises to be certified.

Students must preregister on-line prior 17 September 2024. To register go on-line to twra.org. Click on Hunter Education. Click on in person hunter education, then on find a class. Select the Lewis County High School and fill out registration form. The 1st night of class students must bring their TWRA ID Numbers in case there was a problem with the registration process (If you do not have a TWRA ID Number, call the Region II office to get one prior to registering for the class). If you do not have access to the internet let an instructor know the first night of class and we will assist you with this requirement. Bring a #2 pencil with you to the class.

All materials needed to complete this class will be provided by TWRA. Do not bring any personally owned firearms or ammunition to this class!!

Students must be at least 9 years old as of 17 September 2024 to be certified. Anyone 10 years old or older born after 1 January 1989 must have completed a Hunter Education Class and have proof of completion in their possession while afield hunting. This class will give instruction in safe firearms handling in the field and in the home, Hunter Ethics and Responsibilities, Wildlife Conservation, Safety and First Aid.
