THELMA JOHNS

Thelma Ann Johns passed away peacefully on September 8, 2024, in Columbia, TN at the age of 78. Born on September 14, 1945, in Hohenwald, TN, to the late Hulon Tipton Yates and Thelma Dean Pitts, she grew up surrounded by her loving brothers Jerry, Hulon, Walter, and Marion Yates, and sisters Ruby Thompson and Beverly Webb.

Thelma made her mark as a competent and caring insurance agent at Hull Insurance Agency. She also explored her entrepreneurial spirit, owning and operating Hohenwald Flowers for two years. Thelma's love for flowers extended beyond her business. She was a passionate craftswoman who adored making flower arrangements and other crafts.

Thelma's devotion to her faith was evident in her lifelong membership at Lomax Church of Christ, where she had been a steadfast figure for over four decades. She shared a spiritually significant moment with her sister Beverly Webb when they were both baptized in the 1950s by Mr. Gene Durham.

Thelma was a loving and dedicated wife to Clovis, with whom she shared sixty blissful years. Together, they built a life full of cherished memories, particularly the treasured annual trips to the Florida beaches where she relished the sun, sand, and sea on her birthday.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by numerous nieces & nephews.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations to be made in Mrs. Thelma's memory to the Lewis County Cancer Victims Fund.

A graveside service was held on Tuesday, September 10 beginning at 11:00 AM in the Swiss Cemetery with Jeff "Boo" Spears officiating.
