Panthers meet tough opponent in East Hickman

The Lewis County High School Panthers traveled to East Hickman Friday, September 13, for their first Region contest and were unable to surpass the home team coming home with a 16-34 loss.

East Hickman scored at 8:50 in the first quarter on a 4 yard rush. A conversion run was good for 8 points.

East Hickman added another TD at 1:02 on a 16 yard carry. the extra point attempt failed giving the home team a 14-0 lead.

East scored again at 7:58 in the second on a 5 yard run plus a 2 point run conversion bringing their lead to 22-0.

The Panthers scored in the second quarter at the 3:54 mark on a 16 yard carry by Micah Godfrey. Bentley Kelsey added a 2 point conversion run. LC 8-EH 22.

After the halftime break East Hickman scored at 11:17 in the third period on a 42 yard run. The extra point was no good. LC 8-EH 28.

The home team scored once more on a one yard run at 8:05 in the fourth. A 2 point conversion try fell incomplete. LC 8, EH 34.

Lewis County scored in the fourth period when Dakota Hull caught a 6 yard pass from quarterback Brycen McDonald at 5:10. Godfrey crossed the goal line for 2 more ont he point after try.

Final score East 34 - Lewis 16.

On offense Lewis County tallied 255 yards, 129 rushing and 126 receiving.

Micah Godfrey had 23 carries for 111 yards, Brycen McDonald had 27 on 2 carries, Braylon Bean 1 for 6, Bentley Kelsey 1 for -2, Aiden Wise 1 for -1.

Receiving totals saw McDonald had 12 completions on 18 attempts. Kelsey caught 6 for 78 yards, Hull 3 for 33, Kade Carroll 2 for 8, Bean 1 for 7.

Hull returned two kick off for 21 yards and Micah Godfrey had 4 for 67.

East Hickman gained 367 rushing yards and 57 passing for a combined total of 424.

Panther defensive stats were led by Kobe Feichtinger 11 tackles, Noah Alkire had 7, Nathanial Caamal 6, Dakota Hull and Nate James 5 each, Kelsey, Bean, Corbyn Harris, Colby Cates 3 each, Jaylen Edwards 2, Kade Carroll, Godfrey, Tucker Jones, Aston Brackeen one each. Kade Carroll notched a QB sack.

Lewis County will host the Hickman County Bulldogs this Friday, at Bobby W. Sharp Stadium at 7 p.m.
