Focus on Vibrant Health

Series: FOCUS ON VIBRANT HEALTH | Story 22

Last time you read this column, we were talking about emotional health. It is a critical part of your health and happiness. Emotional and physical health are inseparable. There are 5 perspectives that can help. As already discussed, the first is to recognize and address stress in your life. The second perspective is your attitude; choose to focus on the positive. Today is about social connections.

Social Connections are essential to your physical, mental and emotional health. This includes your partner, family, friends and community. The benefits of social connections come from your internal and subjective sense of connection, not from the actual number friends you have. But you will do best if you have at least a few people that you know you can count on.

Both offering help and asking for it create a sense of belonging in this sometimes impersonal modern culture. For many people, asking for help can be the biggest challenge. This can be done through your family, your church, friends you share something in common with, activities in your community, or any place you find meaning for yourself where you connect with other people. We need each other.

Dr. Veronica Tilden is a doctor of osteopathy. She helps people regain vibrant health, using traditional hands-on osteopathy and lifestyle counseling. The Hohenwald office is currently closed, but phone health consultations are available. DrVeronicaTilden.com.
