First, THANK YOU! In response to last week’s words, several sent messages, others sent pictures of themselves sitting in their yard, “Being Weird!” I love it! So, I’ve been thinking...

It’s OK to try, only to find out something didn’t work. How else would you know if it does or doesn’t?

Yes, there is that whole, “learning from others, so you don’t have to learn the hard way” thing. But, that seems only to work logistically. Examples of this are: “righty-tighty, lefty-loosey” and/or “don’t put your finger in that electric socket!” Those are things anyone can benefit from learning from someone else.

However, emotionally, it doesn’t work the same. Hearts, emotions, are different. They are not generalized bits of common knowledge. Instead, they are shaped by experiences and perspectives we come into contact with as we navigate life. Whether it’s a civic organization, a personal relationship, or a community, they each require a certain level of emotional investment from us.

Don’t let others invest your emotions where they don’t belong. Stay in charge.
