Jo Knows

“Hey, Jo, I have been worried about sending my children to school, with all the threats out there”

Have you looked into the school’s safety policy? It might help to know what measures are in place, like security systems, lock down, drills, or communication plan for emergencies. If you’re unsure, reaching out to the school or attending a meeting can give you a clearer idea of how they’re working to keep students safe. Sometimes, understanding the steps being taken, can ease some of the worry.

“In loco parentis” means that when kids are at school, teachers and staff take on the role of a parent. They are responsible for keeping students safe and caring for them while they’re in school, just like a parent would.

This includes making sure the school is a secure place and responding to any threats or emergencies.

Trust the school polices, practice ways to give you inner peace. Limit triggers like too much news, it’s good to be informed just not overwhelmed.

Focus on what you can control, rather than worrying about things you can’t.

Until next time...Stay curious and keep smiling. - Jo
