LCHS panthers Fall to Loretto, shares field with jr. pro league

The Panthers paired off against the Loretto Mustangs at Bobby W. Sharp Stadium Friday, September 20 for a Region contest. Lots of points were scored by both teams with the visitors taking home a 61-44 victory.

The Mustangs were first to score with Nicholas McDow crossing the goal line at 8:12 on a three yard run. 6-0.

The Panthers countered at 4:23 when Micah Godfrey raced 42 yards for the touchdown to even the score at 6-6.

A minute later, Loretto's McDow took a 44 yard carry for a score. Henry Chambliss added the point after kick to take a 13-6 advantage.

At 9:48 in the second, Mustang Corben Reynolds ran in from the two with another TD, and Chambliss again kicked the PAT to increase their lead to L20-LC6.

With 5:37 left in the second, the visitors rushed for the endzone as Jaxson Roberson ran 54 yards to pay dirt. Chambliss added another point with the extra point kick and the score stood at L27-LC6.

Just before the half, Panther QB Brycen McDonald conneted with Drew Ray for a 13 yard pass for a score to bring the total to L27-LC12 at the break.

In the third quarter, Loretto scored two more TDs. A 13 yard run by Roberson came at 9:43. Reynolds added 6 more at the 5:12 mark after a one yard carry. Chambliss kicked an extra point after each score to bring the Mustang lead to 41-12.

Lewis County would score at 1:41 on a 11 yard run by McDonald. McDonald tossed a two point conversion pass to Dakota Hull to bring the score to 41-20.

In the final period teams scored multiple times with Loretto leading the way. At 11:54, Branton Snider ran 21 yards for a TD.

The Panthers followed at 8:50 on a 25 yard dash by McDonald. He added a two point conversion run to make the score 47-28.

Shortly after Panther Nathanial Caamal crossed the goal line on a one yard carry. Ray added a two point conversion bringig the home team total to L47-LC36.

The Mustangs got on the scoreboard again at 4:49 with Reynolds taking a 23 yard TD pass from Mason Tidwell. Loretto increased their lead to 53-36.

Lewis County made their last score at 3:52 on a McDonald pass to Kobe Feichtinger for a 74 yard touchdown. Ray added two points on the PAT. L 53-LC44.

With only 20 seconds remaining on the clock, Mustang McDow had a two yard run with Chambliss kicking the point after making th final tally L61-LC44.

Rushing totals saw Micah Godfrey with 106 yards on 14 carries and a TD. Ray ran 47 yards on 8 touches. McDonald was 6 for 48 yards and two TDs, Caamal had 1 on one try and a TD.

Receiving totals saw Kobe Feichtinger pull down 4 passes for 109 yards and a TD. Bentley Kelsey was 84 on 7 catches. Drew Ray caught 5 for 37 and a TD, Dakota Hull 5 for 24 yards, Aiden Wise 3 for 14.

Hull returned ten kick offs for 130.

McDonald had 38 pass attempts with 24 completions for 270 yards and two TDs.

Henry Sharp had one kick for 9 yards. Godfrey had 6 kicks for 172 yards.

The Panthers totaled 68 plays for 467 yards with an average of 6.87 yards per play.

The Mustangs had 69 plays for 587 yards and a 8.51 average.

Panther defensive was led by Braylon Bean and Nathanial Caamal with 10 tackles each. Drew Ray and Kobe Feichtingerhad 6 each, Bentley Kelsey 5, Samuel Moore, Noah Alkire, Tucker Jones 3 each, Kade Carroll, Corbyn Harris, Logan Graves 2 each, Brycen McDonald, Blake Welch, Nate James, Jaylen Edwards one each. Feichtinger grabbed an interception. Carroll had a QB sack. Kelsey snagged an interception and blocked a kick.

Lewis County will travel to Mt. Pleasant Friday, September 27, for a Region game at 7 p.m.
