Lewis Health Center, Wayne Medical Center to offer walk-in mammograms

In honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, Lewis Health Center and Wayne Medical Center will offer walk-in Wednesday screening mammograms on select days in October to provide convenient access for women. No appointment is required.

The walk-in mammograms at both Maury Regional Health facilities will take place at the following times:

Lewis Health Center: Oct. 2 and 16 from 1 to 4 p.m. at 617 West Main Street in Hohenwald

Wayne Medical Center: Oct. 9 and 23 from 1 to 4 p.m. at 103 J.V. Mangubat Drive in Waynesboro

Approximately one in eight women will develop breast cancer in their lifetime, according to the American Cancer Society. The best defense against breast cancer is early detection. Maury Regional Health recommends all women who are 40 or older - or earlier for those with a family history of breast cancer or certain risk factors - receive a screening mammogram each year.

Most insurance plans cover the cost of an annual screening mammogram for women 40 and older. For those who qualify and are uninsured, the Tennessee Department of Health will also be available during these times to offer free mammography screenings through the Tennessee Breast and Cervical Screening Program.

Maury Regional Health offers mammography services at locations throughout southern Middle Tennessee, including the Maury Regional Women's Center in Columbia, Lewis Health Center in Hohenwald, Marshall Medical Center in Lewisburg, Wayne Medical Center in Waynesboro and Spring Hill Imaging Center in Spring Hill. To schedule a mammogram at any Maury Regional Health location, call 931.380.4044. To learn more, visit MauryRegional.com/Mammogram.
