Junior Pro Panthers Mauled by the Tigers

Submitted by: Ron Slay

The Lewis County Junior Pro Panthers traveled to Mt Pleasant to face the Tigers this past Saturday and were drubbed in all 3 games, failing to get on the scoreboard. There were sparks by each Panther team, but the dreary rain-soaked evening prevented those sparks from catching fire.

PEE-WEES

The Pee-Wee Panthers suffered a 24-0 defeat at the hands of the Tigers, bringing their season record to 2-4. The team's captains for the game were Micah Conforti, Grayson Morris, and Buster Launius.

While the Panthers struggled to find their footing on offense, they did have some bright spots. Leading the ground attack was Buster Launius with 29 yards, followed by Steele Carroll with 21 yards and Weston Flowers with 11 yards.

On defense, Dawsynn Collins had an outstanding game with 6 tackles and 2 fumble recoveries. Logan Morris and Tatum Perez also contributed with several tackles and fumble recoveries each. Noteworthy moments include Dawsynn Collins' tackle and forced fumble that was recovered by Tatum Perez at the end of the 3rd quarter, as well as Buster Launius traveling 35-yards to tackle a Tigers rusher to prevent a touchdown in the 2nd quarter. Kingsley Beard, Logan Morris and Sam Launius all contributed tackles.

MINORS

The Minor Panthers suffered a 38-0 defeat at the hands of Mt. Pleasant, dropping their record to 0-6 on the season.

Despite the loss, Bentley Hensley and Jax Kvapil led the offensive rushing attack, with Kvapil also connecting with Landyn Stanger on a notable pass play.

On defense, Kvapil stood out with 4 tackles and a remarkable touchdown-saving tackle in the second quarter, while Hensley and Stanger also made crucial tackles to prevent scores. Other notable defensive performances came from Holdyn Clark, Camdyn Carroll, Travis Vaughan, James Ward, and Ayden James.

Additionally, Kvapil had 2 kickoff returns for over 50 yards.

MAJORS

Although the Major Panthers were defeated 28-0 by the Tigers, they displayed some impressive plays. Notably, Brayden Downs completed a pass to Remington Ellis who rumbled for 70 yards, and the rushing attack was led by Elijah Davis with support from Brayden Downs, Remington Potts, and Remington Ellis.

Defensively, Elijah Davis and Remington Potts made four tackles each, with Potts making a critical solo tackle in the third quarter to prevent a touchdown. Mayben Clower and Brixyn Prieur also contributed to the defense, with Clower forcing a fumble and Prieur making a touchdown-saving tackle. Additionally, Corey Simanson, Brayden Downs, and Gavin Totton played well on defense, with Totton forcing a fumble that was recovered by Elijah Davis. Despite the loss, the Major Panthers showcased their potential on both offense and defense.

October 5th marks the Homecoming game for the Panthers as they host Lewisburg at Lewis County Middle School. The Pee Wees will begin the lineup of games at 4pm. Come out and support the future of Lewis County Football. GO PANTHERS!
