Junior Pro Minors Notch First Win

On Saturday, the Lewis County Junior Pro Panthers hosted the Lewisburg Patriots for Homecoming. The celebrations began with a dance for the players and cheerleaders on Friday night, followed by a pre-game ceremony on Saturday. The Homecoming King and Queen for the Pee-Wee division were Steele Carroll and Kyleigh Beard, while Ryatt Collins and Hannah Clemens were crowned for the Minors division. In the Majors division, Ayden Stanger and Brynn Nance were named Homecoming King and Queen.

PEE-WEES

Steele Carroll, Tatum Perez, and Dawsynn Collins served as football Captains, while Kelly Ann Seibert, Lyla Farrar, and Elizabeth Hooks led the cheer squad.

The Panther offense emphasized a powerful rushing attack, totaling 179 yards on the ground despite the inability to score. Steele 'The Real Deal' Carroll spearheaded the effort with 101 scrimmage yards, while Buster Launius added 69 yards. Weston Flowers carried the ball three times for 11 yards, and the offensive line, featuring Dawsynn Collins, Micah Conforti, Tatum Perez, Easton 'Big E' Reeves, Logan Morris, Colton Clark, and Tobias Kvapil, proved vital to the ground game's effectiveness.

The Pee-Wee Panthers' defensive unit put up a staunch fight, with Kingsley Beard, Micah Conforti, Weston Flowers, Dawsynn Collins, Logan Morris, and Tatum Perez all registering tackles, Collins also recorded a tackle for a loss. In a thrilling moment late in the 4th quarter, Defensive Back Weston Flowers made a spectacular leaping interception, returning the ball 10 yards and injecting life into the Panthers' comeback bid. Unfortunately, the team was unable to overcome the deficit, falling by a score of 14-0 and dropping their record to 2-4 on the season.

MINORS

Football Captains for the game were Camdyn Carroll, Hunter Loftis, James Ward, and Bo Simanson, while the cheer Captains were Avianna Prieur, Hannah Clemens and Leah Vanorden.

The Minor Panthers' offense pounced to life, delivering a dominating performance, securing their first win of the season against the Patriots with a shutout score of 14-0. Their season record now stands at 1-5. They totaled an impressive 277 rushing yards, led by Landyn Stanger with 122 yards, followed by Jax Kvapil with 59 yards, Ryatt Collins with 54 yards, T.J. Vaughan with 31 yards, and Bentley Hensley with 11 yards on 4 carries.

The first quarter featured a highlight-reel 34-yard run by Landyn Stanger, which was stopped just shy of the goal line. Jax Kvapil scored on the following play from 3 yards out. In the second quarter, T.J. Vaughan scored on an incredible 27-yard run, breaking multiple tackles. Bentley Hensley completed the scoring with a successful 2-point conversion.

T.J. Vaughan and his teammates on the defensive side of the ball were instrumental in shutting down the Patriot offense. T.J. had five tackles, Bentley Hensley had four tackles, including one for a loss, Camdyn Carroll had three tackles and recovered a fumble, James Ward and Holden Clark each had two tackles, and Hagen Hinson, Landyn Stanger, and Ryatt Collins contributed with one tackle each. Jax Kvapil also made a tackle and recovered a fumble, helping to secure the victory.

MAJORS

Football Captains for the game were Remington Ellis, Elijah Davis and Mayben Clower, while the Cheer Captains were Lydia Fryfogle, Serenity Blanco and Addison Fryfogle

Majors fell to the Patriots 42-24 dropping their record to 1-5 on the season.

Elijah Davis powered the Panthers' offense with a brilliant rushing performance, amassing a remarkable 225 yards and scoring three times. His scoring plays featured a pair of 5-yard runs and an epic 70-yard touchdown jaunt. The Panthers' rushing attack also received contributions from Corey Simanson, who had a 3-yard touchdown run, and Brayden Downs, who added 17 rushing yards, while Remington Potts and Remington Ellis contributed 9 yards each on the ground.

The defense put on an impressive performance, with Ayden Stanger making 4 tackles and a sack, Elijah Davis adding 4 tackles, including one for a loss, Connor Tharp making 4 tackles, Mayben Clower forcing a fumble that led to a turnover, and Jacob Mathes recovering a fumble. Brayden Downs had 3 tackles, while Corey Simanson made 2 tackles. Additionally, Emerson Gibson, Brixyn Prieur, and Remington Potts each recorded a tackle.

Special Teams featured strong kickoff returns from Connor Tharp, Prieur, Simanson and Downs.

The Jr. Panthers are poised to wrap up their season with a showdown against the Titans in Fairview, beginning at 4 p.m. this Saturday October 12. Come out and support the next generation and Future of Lewis County Football.
