Lewis County High School Marching Band is performing well at regional band contests this season. The show this year depicts images, sounds, and music associated with the theme "Dreams and Nightmares" with the songs Mister Sandman, Sweet Dreams, Talking to the Moon, and A Builder's Dream. Under the direction of Ed Medford, staff for the band includes Saul Calderon Zavala, Kelly Medford, Theresa Gibson, Shelly Youngstead, and Joe Ahne. Student leadership team for the band this year is Drum Major Rissa Grinder, Horn Sergeant Geena Caprio, Percussion Sergeant Jeremiah Weibe, and seniors Skyler Allen, Kylie Carroll, Gabriel Jester, Thaddeus Moore, Brandy Price, and Jeremiah Powell.

On September 21st at "March to the Summit Invitational" in Spring Hill the band competed in band size Class A where they earned 3rd place in General Effect Visual, 2nd place in Music Ensemble, and 1st place in Percussion.

Although rain brought the contest indoors the following week on September 28th for the Columbia Marching Invitation Competition, the LCHS marching band performed well once again with 1st Place Band in Class A. Also in Class A the band earned 1st place in Music Effect, 1st place in Music Ensemble, 1st place in Music Performance, 2nd place in Percussion, and 2nd place in Colorguard.

Three more competitions remain for the 2024 contest season for the band beginning with Forrest Rocket Tournament of Bands in Chapel Hill on October 19th and the Pulaski Classic marching band contest on October 26th. The band will have its final competition on November 2nd at Independence High School at Thompson Station for the Division I State Marching Band Championship.
