Well it is a quiet and peaceful morning here in our little valley. It is a little too cool to sit on the porch swing this morning.
Even though it was cool the cats were up early for their breakfast, but now they have went back to their beds. It is a little early for the cats to start their day because they did not get much sleep last night.
About 3 AM I heard a noise on the front porch and I got up to see what it was, and there was two small raccoons playing on the porch. The cats were out of their beds and wide awake, sitting there watching the little raccoons play.
The little raccoon’s mama probably was near by, maybe out in the yard. When the little raccoons left the porch then the cats went back to bed, and so did I.
Lately the nights have been cool and the days have been warm. Thursday is the last day of October and the days are getting shorter, but on Sunday, November 3rd we set our clocks back an hour so that will give us a little more daylight in the evenings and an extra hour of sleep.
We have been real busy trying to get things done outside, with it getting dark earlier it does not seem that we have much time to work outside. In the Fall and wintertime if your working outside you better hurry or it will get dark on you before you know it.
Bobby has got the old wood heating stove cleaned out on the inside and he also cleaned it’s flue out real good, Bob went out into the yard and broke up a bunch of twigs and small branches and filled up a box with them for kindling.
I have some dry wood left from last year, and Ms. Pattie had given me a box of fire starters and I have them in a basket next to the old wood heating stove, so when it turns cold we will be ready to start a good warm fire.
I am really looking forward to some cold weather now, having a big warm fire going in the old wood heating stove and a big pot of homemade soup warming on top of it. I have already got a big jar of homemade cocoa mix made up and all it needs is a cup of hot water and a few marshmallows, now doesn’t that sound good?
I think most of us are feeling a little uneasy about what may happen around the election and all the things going on in the world. Lots of people are either at war or fighting with each other. Some people say they are worried something might happen before the election. God said there would be wars and rumors of war, we are praying everyday and “In God We Trust” to keep us safe.
We have not seen much of the long range Winter weather forecasts. One unusual thing is our old apple tree in the yard has a few new blooms, it has lost most of its leaves but a few new leaves and a few pretty white blooms have come out, does anybody know why it is doing this? It is definitely not normal, Bobby took a few pictures of the blooms.
We have got some busy days planned ahead of us, we have got more cleaning to do inside and we need to wash all the windows and Bobby is going to steam clean the carpets and if he has time before dark he may do some pressure washing outside. There is more things that needs to be done than there are hours in the day.
I am not going to worry about tomorrow and I am going to take one day at a time because God still has it all under control and He is the light at the end of the tunnel.
God bless,
Evelyn “E.T.” Trevathan
