Serving Hohenwald, Lewis County Tennessee Since 1898
We are gathered in loving memory of Willard Franklin Pigg, a cherished patriarch, friend, and pillar of the community, whose journey on earth came to a peaceful close on October 31, 2024, in Lawrenceburg, TN. Born on March 18, 1930, in Hohenwald, TN, to the late Louie and Sophie Pigg, Willard's life was a testament to the virtues of hard work, dedication to family, and the simple joys that life affords.
Willard was the loving husband of the late Evelyn Pigg. Together, they began a family that would grow and flourish through the years. He leaves behind a legacy in his two devoted sons, Larry (Sheila) Pigg and Jimmy (Twila) Pigg, who will continue to honor his memory. His sister, Peggy Sue Holloway, survives him, as do his grandchildren Mark (Jennifer) Pigg, Cassie Pigg Couch, and Lindsey (Trey) Eastland, who brought him endless happiness.
Willard also leaves behind to carry on his memory his great-grandchildren Caroline, Weston, Raylin, Isabella, Levi, Tucker, Tripp, and Tiffani, and further still to the joyous arrival of great-great-grandchild Tulsa Mae Bryson. Each of these will carry forward a piece of Willard's heart and spirit. He was preceded in death by his siblings Lewis Henry Pigg, James Pigg, Lewis Pigg, Calvin Smith, and Herman Smith.
Willard's work ethic was unparalleled, having taken to logging at the age of 14. His dedication to the craft spanned decades, and he later contributed 20 years of service to Murray/Ohio, where his commitment was deeply appreciated.
A man of the land, Willard found solace in farming and logging. His greatest pleasure, however, was found in the company of his loved ones. He relished in sitting on his front porch, engaging in conversations with family, and creating lasting memories with his grandchildren. The outdoors was his haven, a place where he could be found basking in the simplicity of the natural world.
Willard's life will be celebrated and honored by family and friends during visitation in the chapel of Adair Funeral & Cremation Services on Tuesday, November 5, 2024, from 11:00 am to 8:00 pm. Funeral Services at 12:00 pm on Wednesday, November 6, 2024, with Brothers Steve Holloway, Steve Seaton, and Mark Pigg officiating. The final rite of committal will take place at Hinestown Cemetery in Hohenwald, where he will be laid to rest next to his loving wife.
