Serving Hohenwald, Lewis County Tennessee Since 1898
Well it is a cool Fall morning here in our little valley. The colors of the trees have been so pretty, this year we have had a beautiful Fall.
We have had some cooler temperatures and got a few showers of rain and some wind, and now the leaves have really been falling off the trees.
The cats were ready for their breakfast this morning. They know when it is cool out that they get a little bowl of warm milk, so they were sitting at the door waiting.
We have been enjoying this Fall weather, Bob and Bobby each have went walking almost everyday. Bobby has been trying to get as much things done outside as he can before the weather turns real cold.
All of the falling leaves have kept Bob busy sweeping. We are waiting for all the leaves to fall before we have to chop them up and blow them out the yard.
Bob has been busy lately, between the leaves and keeping the breakfast dishes washed and the kitchen clean, I think I will make him a cup of hot cocoa, don’t you all think he deserves it for all his hard work.
We have been doing some more cleaning and let me tell you, you never realize how much cleaning everything needs until you start cleaning.
We have put up a few Christmas decorations. I am looking forward to the holidays and getting together with family and friends. A lot of us stay so busy, the holidays are the only time we get to see each other anymore.
The holidays can be kind of a sad time for some, we should always remember to keep each other in our thoughts and prayers. During these next two big holidays we all need to remember to be thankful for how blessed we truly are.
We were out running errands and saw that most of the fields of corn and soybeans have been gathered. Most of the fields now have very little green color left to them, I guess most of the farmers are getting ready for Winter.
We saw some turnip patches, after they get a frost they will be better. Some vegetables do better if it is a little cold or hot and dry, this year it looks like the sweet potatoes did good. We like our sweet potatoes baked with a lot of butter and a little cinnamon sugar.
Today I have got a lot of raspberries on hand and I think I will make up some raspberry jelly, I think when it is cold and snowy outside this Winter that some homemade raspberry jelly on top off a hot brown biscuit will be good.
I am not going to worry about tomorrow and I am going to take one day at a time because God still has it all under control and He is the light at the end of the tunnel.
God bless,
Evelyn “E.T.” Trevathan
