Donate old pumpkins to the elephant sanctuary

Wondering what to do with your pumpkins as the holiday turns from pumpkin patches to Christmas tree farms? The eight African and five Asian elephants would love to take those off your hands. Did you know elephants LOVE pumpkins? They do, and they have VERY large appetites. They can consume around 150 pounds of fruits, vegetables, grains, and plant materials each day, including pumpkins!

Your donated pumpkins will be used by caregivers at the Elephant Sanctuary to fill with hay and other treats for the elephants to enjoy. They aren't too picky and are accepting uncarved, non-decomposing pumpkins through November 30, 2024.

Pumpkins may be dropped off in the grassy, fenced-in space behind the Elephant Discovery Center at 27 East Main Street. There, you will see the designated drop-off location behind the building next to the 're-tired' elephant statue.
