Hotel/Motel Tax Used to Help Support the Chamber of Commerce

The Lewis County Board of Commissioners held their monthly Committee of the Whole meeting on Monday, November 4, 2024 in the Commission Chambers of the historic courthouse.

During the meeting, Committee Chairman, Kyle Bobo, presented a check to Chamber of Commerce Director, Debbie Landers, in support of the Chamber's efforts to support local businesses and improve economic and community development in our community.

The funding for the check was generated by tourists visiting Lewis County through the county's hotel/motel tax, and in accordance with state law, is allocated by Commissioners each year to assist the Chamber with its annual operating expenses.

For more than 45 years, the Chamber has been a vital asset to Lewis County by supporting local businesses and organizations, and promoting various community events and activities.

Chamber membership is open to individuals and businesses, and provides numerous benefits, such as an increased visibility in the community, customer referrals, networking opportunities, access to the Chamber newsletter and website, and all-around business support.
