Now that the election is over, what comes next? State Senator Dr. Joey Hensley explains the process. "To formally certify the winner of popular vote," informed Dr. Hensley, "states must finish ballot counting by December 11 in time for December 17th, when the Electoral College meets to vote. On January 3rd, the new Congress will meet, then they'll accept certified results from each state on the 6th." He concluded, "Although he has won the electoral votes needed to claim the presidency, Donald Trump will not take office until January 20, 2025, when he is scheduled to be inaugurated."
The Biden/Harris Administration has already begun the long process of power transition, and during her concession speech, Harris emphasized the importance of a peaceful transition of power.
"As an Administrator of Elections in Tennessee, I am proud to say we have successfully completed another Presidential Election. Lewis County really came out to take part doing their civic duty. Tennessee has maintained the number one spot for Election Integrity across the country since 2022, and that is due to the strictest election laws as well as a great team of workers," said Lewis County Administrator of Elections Rusty Isbell. "I sent out 54 people to help hold the November Election. These people were comprised of Democrats and Republicans, ensuring equal representation for both parties. All paperwork requires verification from a worker representing each party and additional verification from my Election Commission, of which is also comprised of both Republicans and Democrats. We had assistance from some elected constables and both law enforcement agencies, ensuring the safety of our voters and workers. All of Tennessee will be participating in some form of post-election audit that will confirm Election Night Results." He concluded by saying, "I hope this puts voter's minds at ease regarding the safety and integrity of the election process."
