Panthers fall to bulldogs in first round

The Lewis County High Forest Football Panthers traveled to Milan Friday, November 8, to compete in First Round TSSAA playoff. The Panthers were overpowered by the Bulldogs losing by the score of 42-16.

The Bulldogs controlled the first half building a 28 point lead after two quarters.

The first score was a 5 yard TD run by Milan's Jaydon Peete at 8:49. Josh Shook kicked the Point After.

At 5:29, Greg Hayes caught a 57 yard pass from Will Johnson for the score. Shook added the Point After.

Hayes finished the first period scoring grabbing a 64 yard TD pass from Johnson at 3:33. Shook kicked the Point After giving the Bulldogs a 21-0 lead.

The only score of the second quarter was a 16 yard carry for score by Peete at 8:59 plus the Point After by Shook, and the Bulldogs took a 28 point lead in at half.

Milan continued to dominate with a 5 yard TD pass from QB Johnson to Cordarius Johnson at 5:32 in the third. The extra point kick by Shook. M35-LC 0.

Panther Drew Ray crossed the goal line for Lewis County at 4:31 in the third quarter catching a pass from Bentley Kelsey and racing to the endzone for the score. Brycen McDonald followed with a two point conversion pass caught by Kade Carroll. M 35-LC 8.

As the fourth quarter entered the last two minutes of play, Milan's Peete notched another TD on an eight yard carry at 1:21 with Shook adding the extra point. M 42-LC 8.

Panther Drew Ray scored his second TD of the night at 57 seconds on a 6 yard dash. Brycen McDonald tossed a pass to Bentley Kelsey for the 2 point conversion. Final: Milan 42-Lewis County 16.

Rushing totals were led by Drew Ray with 34 yards on 11 carries with one TD. Braylon Bean ran 4 yards on 2 carries. Bently Kelsey was 2 on 1 try, Brycen McDonald was -4 on 1 try.

The Panthers had a total rush attack of 164 yards on 27 carries with 10:25 average.

Passing totals saw Brycen McDonald complete 15 of 26 attempts for 108 yards and one 2 point conversion. Bentley Kelsey had one pass for 56 yard TD.

Drew Ray caught 2 passes for 61 yard total and one TD. Kade Carroll caught 6 for 36 yards. Bentley Kelsey caught 7 passes for 60 yards and one 2 point conversion.

Total receiving was 164 yards on 16 receptions.

Lewis County had 45 total plays and 184 total yards.

Henry Sharp kicked 3 kick-offs for 41 yards and a 13.67 average.

Kobe Feichtinger had one kick return for 26 yards. Bentley Kelsey had two for 29 total.

Waverly had 38 total plays for 355 yards and 9.34 average.

Panther defense was led by Drew Ray with 6 tackles. Brycen McDonald had 5, Corbyn Harris had 5 and a QB sack, Nathanial Camaal and Samuel Moore had 3 each, Kade Carroll, Bentley Kelsey, Braylon Bean, Tuff Lindsey 2 each, Aiden Wise and Colby Cates had one each.
