County Awarded $15,000 Grant for Correctional Officer Training and Equipment

The State of Tennessee recently awarded Lewis County Government a $15,000 "TCI Training Equipment Grant". This grant is designed to help provide mandatory safety and defense training to Correctional Officers at the Jail, and to purchase equipment such as headgear, tasers, and radios.

The grant was successfully written and submitted by Assistant Jail Administrator Jill Norris, and is 100% fully-funded by the state, thus requiring no match of local tax dollars.

"I appreciate the hard work Mrs. Norris put into writing this grant," stated Lewis County Sheriff, Dwayne Kilpatrick. "It will provide critical training and equipment for our C.O.'s at no cost to the county and will allow us to operate our Jail in a more safe and efficient manner."
