Serving Hohenwald, Lewis County Tennessee Since 1898

GORDONSBURg News

The temperatures have been more like January and February weather than December, I really hate to see what the electric bill will be for this month. The temperatures have even been in the teens and lower on a few nights and low twenties other times and below freezing several nights. Maybe it will warm up a little, today has been in the sixties which is the first time in over three weeks.

Those I know which are sick either at home, in nursing facilities or in the hospitals are: Kasey Baker, Colene Beasley, Linda Butler, Elizabeth Boggs, Deanne Darden-Carroll, Gertie Carroll, Pam James Carroll, Spencer Clark, Nita Cottrel, Robert and Pat Dickson, Polly Edwards, Paul Gandy, Steve Holloway, Leon Hunter, Monette King, Lillie Mitchell, Doug Miller, Howard Miller, Judy O’Guin, Roger Pace, Debbie Pierce, Bonnie Runions, Harry Runions, Marsha Runions, Addie Steel, Terry Stutts, and Annette Williams. Prayers for these and others we may not know of but especially pray for those with cancer.

We wish a happy birthday to Brantlee Tripp the 12th, Eddie Holt the 13th, Zander Tripp the 14th, Hailey Barrier, Nikki Baxter, and Tim Eastep the 16th, and Ken Kauffman the 19th. Wishing for all these and anyone I missed a very happy birthday and many more to celebrate.

Prayers for all those families who lost loved ones this past week, these are the ones I know about

Ricky Walton Pickett, Nell Bunch, Sandra L. Butler McCormick, Tammy Renea Pusser, Phyllis Townsend, and Tracy Lee Rollins. Prayers for these families and any others about which I may not know.

On Saturday several of my family and friends met at the Los Hernando’s Restaurant for a birthday celebration for Maria Tripp, my great grand daughter who just turned twelve and for her half brother Jared, uncle Blake Chappell and mine, we all had a great time and enjoyed the food, and the cakes baked by our friend Donald Taylor. The staff at the restaurant was very nice and helpful and even sang happy birthday to them.

Don’t forget Christmas in Hohenwald, that is going on now and will be for a couple of weeks. There are lots of things to do in the area and don’t forget to see the lights in the park, they are so pretty.

We had our Lewis County Historical Society meeting on December second, and we had a great meeting and food, it seems more people come out when we have food, and we all enjoyed it and some even shared some stories from the past that was close to them for the holidays. Was a great meeting.

If any of you or your family worked at Genesco in the 1900’s or had family working, there you may remember the newsletters that they published throughout the years. The museum has a book that was put together with copies of these papers and it is a historical treasure for those who knew people or who worked there themselves. They are now marked at $20, and this would make a great Christmas present that will be treasured through the years.

Wishing you and your family a great week and good health and happiness, take time to remember those who are sick, shut-in, or in hospitals or nursing homes.

Thanks for allowing me to be the person of the week, I appreciate the honor.

Dorothy
