GORDONSBURg News

Our weather has been more like December has been in the past, the daytime temperatures have been in the upper fifties and low sixties for most of the last two weeks. I for one am glad that it is not below freezing as it was a few days ago. We have had some rain so that helps bring up the water supplies in creeks, wells, and ponds along with other areas or water.

Those I know which are sick either at home, in nursing facilities or in the hospitals are: Kasey Baker, Colene Beasley, Linda Butler, Elizabeth Boggs, Deanne Darden-Carroll, Gertie Carroll, Pam James Carroll, Spencer Clark, Nita Cottrel, Robert and Pat Dickson are both having health issues, Russell Dupont, Polly Edwards, Paul Gandy, Steve Holloway, Leon Hunter, Monette King, Lillie Mitchell, Doug Miller, Howard Miller, Judy O’Guin, Roger Pace, Debbie Pierce, Bonnie Runions, Harry Runions, Marsha Runions, Addie Steel, Terry Stutts, and Annette Williams. Prayers for these and others we may not know of but especially pray for those with cancer.

Wishing for all these and anyone I missed a very happy birthday and many more to celebrate.

Happy anniversary to Jimmy and Wanda Barber December 25th, and to James and Mary Ann Whitehead on December 26th, wishing these couples a very happy anniversary and many years to celebrate.

Prayers for all those families who lost loved ones this past week, these are the ones I know about

Anita Louise Whitehead Sims, Barbara Joyce Lard, Juanita O, Rhinehart, Malcolm Patterson Easley Jr., Henry Arthur Crafts Sr., Johnny Steve Qualls, Norma Jean Dymacek, Stacy Saline Driggers, Mattie Tom Ayers, and Nell Virgina Ayers. Prayers for these families and any others about which I may not know.

If any of you or your family worked at Genesco in the 1900’s or had family working, there you may remember the newsletters that they published throughout the years. The museum has a book that was put together with copies of these papers and it is a historical treasure for those who knew the people who worked there or worked themselves. They are now marked at $20, and this would make a great Christmas present that will be treasured through the years.

I wish for you and your family a great holiday time of year and remember the reason for the season and take time to send a card, make a phone call or visit with those less fortunate or shut in.
