Serving Hohenwald, Lewis County Tennessee Since 1898
Tennessee is abuzz with excitement as we gear up for two major events that highlight the incredible impact of volunteerism and service-learning in our communities: the Governor’s Volunteer Stars Awards and the Tennessee Conference on Volunteerism and Service-Learning.
Tennessee’s premier volunteer recognition initiative is the Governor’s Volunteer Stars Awards (GVSA).
Since 2008, GVSA has been honoring outstanding individuals, businesses, and nonprofits from across the state. Participating counties submit one youth and one adult volunteer for statewide recognition each year. Additionally, we celebrate one business and one nonprofit from Tennessee’s three Grand Divisions for their exceptional community involvement and service.
The 2024 GVSA celebration is February 16 at the Franklin Marriott Cool Springs. This event is a fantastic opportunity to recognize and celebrate the selfless contributions of volunteers who make a difference in their communities.

The conference focuses on increasing service and volunteerism across Tennessee by providing opportunities for collaboration to address community needs and utilize service as a vehicle for change.
On February 17-18, TCVSL will feature a diverse lineup of speakers, workshops, networking sessions, and a service project designed to inspire and empower attendees to take their volunteer efforts to the next level. Dedicated learning tracks include Corporate Social Purpose (CSP), Higher Education, Youth, and Service-Learning. The plenary speakers will share fantastic presentations, and the 2024 Award of Excellence winners will be announced.
Both events underscore the importance of volunteerism and service-learning in fostering more substantial, resilient communities. Whether you're a seasoned volunteer or just getting started, these events offer valuable insights, networking opportunities, and a chance to celebrate the incredible work across Tennessee.
