Dinosaur Discovery: Hundreds of new footprints found

Believed to be the biggest discovery in the United Kingdom, approximately 150 dinosaur footprints have been unearthed by British researchers.

According to news out of the UK, teams from Birmingham and Oxford University were working a routine excavation at a Quarry in Oxfordshire, Central England, in June when a worker who was stripping clay back with a mechanical digger noticed unusual bumps.

Those bumps turned out to be dinosaur tracks. “In terms of both size of the tracks and size of the track sites,” said U of B micropaleontologist Professor Kirsty Edgar, “this is one of the most impressive.”

According to the researchers, five trackways were uncovered, with the longest stretching almost 500 feet in length. The long-necked herbivorous Cetiosaurus is believed to be responsible for four of the tracks, with the carnivorous megalosaurus being responsible for the fifth.
