What's the Lowdown on the Dog Pound?

Lewis County Government Animal Services has a pretty standard protocol when it comes to our Dog Pound Facility.

If local law enforcement is involved, they are required by law to hold the dog for 10 days, after which, the owner may pay for the boarding fee which pays for the care of the dog while housed at their facility.

If the dog catcher is dispatched to retrieve a stray dog, the policy is to keep the dog a minimum of three business days. However, they admittedly usually keep them for a week or two to provide ample opportunity for any owners to reach out.
